Notes on Contributors Journal of American-East Asian Relations 17 (2010) 89 © Koninklijke Brill NV, Leiden, 2010 DOI 10.1163/187656110X525779 brill.nl/jaer Notes on Contributors John Schrecker (B.A., University of Pennsylvania; Ph.D., Harvard) is Professor Emeritus of History at Brandeis University, and an Associate of Harvard’s Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies. His specialties are Sino- Western interactions and traditional Chinese social theory. His major work has dealt with German imperialism in Shandong, and with nineteenth- century Chinese radicalism. His most recent book, Th e Chinese Revolution in Historical Perspective , uses traditional Chinese theories to narrate the story and to analyze China’s interactions with the West. He is currently completing a full-scale biography of Anson Burlingame, drawn to his subject by Burlingame’s signifi - cant American and intercultural life. Tsuchida Akio is Professor of Chinese Studies at Chuo University and a Research Fellow at Toyo Bunko (Oriental Library) in Tokyo. A graduate of Tokyo University, where he majored in Asian Studies and International Relations, he had also done research at Nanjing University, Academia Sinica, and Stanford University.
