Although diffi cult and hostile, there has always been a love aff air between Marxism and Religion as Roland Boer ( Criticism of Heaven: On Marxism and Th eology , Leiden, Brill, 2007) has recently pointed out. Th e goal of this edited book is to analyze Marxism and Critical Th eory as a framework for studying religion and developing a critical theory of religion. “Th e critical theory of religion is not just a confl ict approach but more specifi - cally analyzes religion from a dialectical perspective (. . .) [by looking] at the relationship between religious diff erences and class diff erences” (p. 2). With this aim, the book is divided into three parts.
