It was by the divine providence of God that they emerged simultaneously in the .13th century as two stars from two of the most famous orders. 3 The doctor angelicus and the doctor seraphicus not only represent the epitomy of Scholasticism, but also rank amongst the giants of the entire history of Western thought.
