LANCASTER CONFERENCE The 1991 UK Conference was held at Lancaster on the 16th April, when Peter Nicholson (University of York) and Fred Rosen (University College London) organised a panel on "Democracy and Ancient Greece" at the Annual Conference of the Political Studies Association of the UK. In the first session, chaired by Peter Nicholson, there were papers from Paul Millett (Cambridge University) on "Athenian Democracy in Practice" and Michael Saward (Royal Holloway and Bedford New College, University of London) on "Proximity and Direct Democracy: from Athens to Tele-democracy". The Discussant was Marina Par ha (University of York). In the second session, chaired by Fred Rosen, there were papers by Kyriacos Demetriou (University College London) on "George Grote and Athenian Democracy" and Paul Kelly (University College Swansea) on "Two Views of a Democratic Constitution: Aristotle and Bentham". The Discussant was Andros Loizou (Lancashire Polytechnic). CRITO BIBLIOGRAPHY Peter Nicholson's Bibliography of writing in English on Plato's Cri to, originally published in the first issue of 'Polis' (vol. 1, no. 1, 1977, pp. 2-7) has been revised. Most of the additional citations have appeared in the Bibliographies in ·Polis'. The Bibliography now extends to 13 pages.
