In the last years he again stepped in as managing editor of Novum Testamentum and ensured a smooth transition to Cilliers Breytenbach and Johan Thom in 2007. In connection with his last publication in Novum Testamentum he wrote his final communication to the editorial office on 3 July 2021:Haben Sie meinen aufrichtigen Dank für ihre Bestätigung des Empfangs meiner korrigierten Druckfahne, diesmal in lesbarer Form.
