Here is a bird’s eye view of certain trend developments in the techno- logical regime in India that now characterize an outward- looking economy. Such changes are perceived as a threefold articulation: reorienting the industrial research laboratories, particularly the public-funded ones; reshaping technological research in academics; and adapting to competition through technological changes in industry, particularly in the manu- facturing sector. The paper brings out the unfolding techno- logical dynamism experienced by a developing economy, with its industrial capitalism only recently integrated through glob- alization. It shows how the technological regime is adapting to hard conditions via the emergence of globalization. With respect to developing countries, globalization, as an over-encom- passing process, has unleashed changes of unprecedented magnitude in various aspects of the economy.
