Wien, Verlag der Osterreichischen Akademie der Wisenschaften, 1996. 115 pp. oS 312.00 Vatsya Varadaguru (ca 1190–1275) is the author of the Prameyamala in which he devotes a chapter to the problem of how to understand the transcendence ( triparicchedarahitya ) of Brahma. Sankara was probably the first to try to explain that Brahma is unlimited as to place ( desatah ), time ( kalatah ) and being ( vastutah ) in his commentary on the word anantam from the Mahavakya of Taittirıyopanisad II 1. This problem was extensively discussed in the Ramanuja school from Ramanuja to Venkatanatha.
