Hugo Grotius Opera Theologica. to be issued by the Grotius Committee of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences. This lar- ger project is to be welcomed. for Grotius was a man of many talents. De Saris- faerione is a very appropriate choice for the first volume of this series. Grotius was a most able representative of the Remonstrants. His book is an attack on the theory of the atonement that Fausto Sozzini presented in De Jesu ChrisfO Sen'alore and the presentation of a different theory, which has been called the rectoral or governmental theory. wherein the death of Christ on the cross demonstrates the rectoral justice of God.
