Conference Reviews <jats:sec><jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>Ninth International Congress of Mongolists: A Personal Account Congresses of Mongolists usually take place in Ulaanbaatar every five years but the ninth was brought forward by a year to coincide with the celebration of the 800th anniversary of the ‘founding of the Great Mongolian State’ (Ikh Mongol Uls) by Genghis Khan (Chinggis Khaan). Held from 8 to 12 August 2006, it was dedicated to ‘Mongolian statehood, past and present’.
