[A Law to Ensure] That there Will be No Misconduct or Fighting by Anyone at the Sovereign's Palace Court. Richard Hellie (Chicago, IL, U.S.A.) Chapter 3 o f the Ulozhenie continues the logical organization o f the code from the sublime (God) to the mundane (alcohol and tobacco). Having dealt with the issue o f the tsar in chapter 2, chapter 3 then moves to the issue o f protecting the ruler's immediate environment, the tsar's palace court. Most o f the provisions o f chapter 3, like those o f chapters 1 and 2, are borrowed from chapter 1, articles 9 and 10, o f the Lithuanian Statute o f 1588, and adapted to Muscovite conditions. (The title o f chapter 3 o f the Ulozhenie is very close to the title o f article 9 o f the Statute, with the addition o f the word draki, which is very close to brani, "fighting.")
