281 do not always rectify this (e.g., § 3.4 n. 38 mentions Mazor's work, but not its listing in § 2.2). Pace the back cover, the bibliographies do not "pay particular attention to literature in English" - some two thirds of references and most citations in notes are of Ger- man works. Also, ancient texts are noted in German translation, not English. Further, biblical texts are given in their German (and Hebrew) numeration, without notification. This affects both occasional references and complete sections (e.g., § 3.62 re Hos. 2: 12, 14; § 3.63 re Exodus 22), and will mislead many an unwary student. There is no list of abbreviations - one must buy volume 2 for this two-page luxury! It is also needed for the indices. And there is no list of journals, not even in volume 2. (Referral there to German reference works is hardly helpful.) Finally, the binding will not withstand frequent use - my copy is already losing pages. All this could easily have been avoided, and detracts needlessly from Albertz's important contribution to a neglected discipline.
