CALENDAR OF EVENTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS ISCSC The 11 th Annual meeting of the International Society for the Com- parative Study of Civilisations will be held at Pittsburgh University, Pitts- burgh, PA (U.S.A.), on 27-30 May 1982. One of the main foci of this comparative and cross-cultural as well as inter-disciplinary conference is "Religion and the State in Civilizational Perspective". The Society aims both to promote individual and cooperative efforts in the comparative study of civilizations and to elaborate analytical methodologies for studying any significant problem in the humanities or the social sciences in comparative civilizational perspective. In its meetings and occasional regional and thematic conferences, the Society seeks to encourage a continuous exchange of questions, perspectives, and substantive evidence by specialists on particular civilizations and by social and humanistic scholars working in a wide range of disciplines. Inquiries concerning membership in the Society should be addressed to the Secretary-Treasurer, Professor Neil B. Weissman, Department of History, Dickinson College, Carlisle, PA 17013, U.S.A. The World Congress of Sociology (see also above, p. 112) will be held in Mexico City, 15-20 August 1982. Of special interest to students of religion should be the sessions organised by the Research Com- mittee
