Book Review: Climate Change Law Mitigation and Adaptation , written by Richard G. Hildreth, David... St. Paul, MN: Thomson Reuters, 2009, 831 pp., $188.00 hb, isbn 978-0314199386. Climate Change Law Mitigation and Adaptation is an essential addition to the legal scholarship addressing climate change. A complex, interdisciplinary topic, climate change is an issue lawyers must internalize and incorporate into their analyses and advice due to its pervasive influence on all sectors of the economy, government, society, and the world. Written largely with a focus on us climate change law, this book provides a comprehensive overview which can introduce students or professionals to this multi-faceted field. Alternatively, it concisely presents sector- and issue-specific discussions and extensively referenced additional materials, allowing for in-depth analysis and specialization. Structured in casebook format, the book breaks down different issues involved with climate change into nine chapters. Each chapter further divides the specific topic into sections, presenting relevant scholarly writings, government agency reports, legislation, and regulation, followed by notes and questions. There is an absence of judicial opinions in the book, which is to be expected in part due to the experimental and formative stage of many of the laws. However, instructors wishing to supplement the book with available case law should utilize the myriad citations provided in each http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Climate Law Brill
