A Guide to the Complete Palestinian Aramaic Text of the Torah. x + 1494 pp. Johns Hopkins University Press, Baltimore and London, 1993. This volume, which is a publication of The Comprehensive Aramaic Lexicon Project , had its origin in work done by M. Sokolo Ú in the early stages of the preparation of his A Dictionary of Jewish Palestinian Aramaic of the Byzantine Period [ DJPA ] (1990). The concordance includes the full main text of Neo ti and the marginalia, except where these are short recurrent alternatives to readings in the main text. Pp. 1-1364 present the main concordance, pp. 1365-1470 deal with proper names and pp. 1471-6 with “Hebrew Contexts”, by which is meant the fairly frequent Hebraisms in the text (even though it is not always easy to decide between a Hebraism and a legitimate dialectal Aramaic form). Spelling of the lemma-words follows the practice most common in the manuscript, so that there are frequent disagreements with DJPA , which works on a principle of conformity to a theoretical ideal
