212 REPORTS ON IAMS PROJECTS Biblical Studies and Mission (BISAM) A Report of (Non)-Activists Christianity is a "religion of the Book" and therefore, the Bible, its book, is an important equipment for the articulation of true faith in every age and context. The 'people of God' have the mark of being 'apostolic' and, therefore, have a missionary nature. BISAM then seeks to give currency to the dynamic of the apostolicity of the Church and its given faith expressed in the Bible. In a sense the project is a handle on to managing the 'rethinking' of local congregations as missionary congregations, namely authentic signs, foretaste and instrument of God's Kingdom. At the Rome Congress, we reported on the work done on 'Witness in the Bible' which was led by Prof. Marc Spindler of the Interuniver- sity Institute for Missiological and Ecumenical Research (IIMO), Lei- den, the Netherlands. It was hoped that IIMO would have continued to take a leading hand on the task. But alas! that was not to be. In Rome again we expressed the hope to embark on two other projects: (1) The Syriac Tradition and Mission; (2) Southern Perspec- tives on Bible and Mission. As is
