In 1971, the editors of Classici delle religioni brought out the Dead Sea Scrolls in the translation by Luigi MORALDI. In 1978 this was followed by Berešit Rabbâ, translated by A. RAVENNA and T. FEDERICI. Now they render another service to our studies by publishing this translation of Old Testament Apocrypha (Apocrypha in the sense of Pseudepigrapha). Five works have been selected for inclusion: Ahikar, 1 Esdras, Jubilees, 1 Enoch (with the Aramaic fragments), and the Testaments of the Twelve Patriarchs (with the related Hebrew and Aramaic texts). If we compare this volume with similar recent collections, such as Jüdische Schriften aus hellenistisch-römischer Zeit (ed. W. KÜMMEL, first fascicle 1973) and The Old Testament Pseudepigrapha (ed. J. H. CHARLESWORTH, first volume 1983), the restricted number of works selected is striking. The criterion for selection has been to offer to
