Introduction to Special Section Based on Papers Presented at the Workshop on Information Technology and Systems, 2017 We are happy to present this special issue based on papers presented at WITS 2017 in Seoul, Korea. WITS is a premier academic conference for information systems, focusing on research that is quan- titatively and technically oriented. Since its inception in 1991, WITS has attracted high-quality research and significantly contributed to advancing the state-of-the-art research in the field of In- formation Systems. WITS contributions are often prescriptive and address complex business prob- lems using several different problem-solving domains including empirical, analytical, behavioral, 6e experimental, and computational methods. The theme of WITS 2017 was “Design Innovations for Human-Computer Symbiosis.” The workshop theme called for a focus on the design of information systems that addressed Intelligence Augmentation. Intelligence Augmentation requires a focus on interaction design that optimizes the ability of human analysts to direct the computational pro- cess. As such, the workshop asked researchers to address research topics related to interactions, interface design, and computational algorithms for efficient problem-solving in various domains. The authors of a limited number of high-quality papers presented at the conference were invited to expand their papers and submit them http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png ACM Transactions on Management Information Systems (TMIS) Association for Computing Machinery
