High-level microprogramming with APL syntax

High-level microprogramming with APL syntax The article demonstrates how higher-level microprograms can be written in APL notation. With an architecture support package (ASP) defining and emulating target machine features, the resulting 'microAPL' code is directly APL executable. Firmware development is very straightforward. An implemented ASP, microAPL compiler, and microAPL linker are discussed. MicroAPL is also compared with S* notation. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png ACM SIGMICRO Newsletter Association for Computing Machinery

Abstract

The article demonstrates how higher-level microprograms can be written in APL notation. With an architecture support package (ASP) defining and emulating target machine features, the resulting 'microAPL' code is directly APL executable. Firmware development is very straightforward. An implemented ASP, microAPL compiler, and microAPL linker are discussed. MicroAPL is also compared with S* notation.
