CLUSTR: A program for structuring design problems
The evolution of methods of finding the "proper" location of a set of architecturally defined spaces runs into unwarranted complexity as the problem approaches "real world" constraints. The problem strains at its boundaries, produces anomalies, does not respond neatly to modeling, and has not produced any change in the architect's concept of built form. It does puzzle analysts and continues to provide both a methodical challenge and a forum for discussion of some of the underlying meanings of "design".
