CONFER(I), a computer conference and message system, is used f o r communication with users, among computer center staff members and with staff members from other computer installations. Characteristics of the organization which make it advantageous to use the computer as a medium of communication and the specific applications of the computer center are discussed. The strengths and weaknesses of computerized communication are also considered.
