CHESS CHESS RIBBIT Wins 5th U.S. Computer Chess Championship The. U.S. has a new computer chess champion! RIBB|T, programmed by Jim Parry, Ron Hanson, and Russell Crook, took first place at the U.S. Championship match held in conjunction with ACM74 at San Diego, November 10-12, 1974. included among RIBBIT's perfect 4-point triumph was a victory over CHESS 4.0, which had won this championship in each of the last four years and which finished in second place this year.
