NCCOSC RDTE DI V (formerly NOSC ) San Diego, Californi a mshapiro@nosc.mil Two minor problems associated with discussions of the Ada programming language occasionally vex Ada advocates and puristsâreferences to persons making "religiou s arguments" about the Ada language and misuse of the acronym ADA . This brief pape r intends to solve both problems. I believe we need a new term to describe those intent on heatedly discussing th e attributes of Ada with the strong belief that those attributes are either (1) good or (2) evil . I propose we call such a person an Adaeist . An Adaeist (pronounced AYâdeeâist) argue s his or her leanings about Ada with the dedication and fervor usually attributed to religiou s fundamentalists or to religious disbelievers . We can call a congregation of such persons an Assembly of Devout Adaeists, or ADA . This use of the acronym in a way related to the Ada programming language gives u s a specific replacement for what has been a more general use .
