special announcements AMS/INDUSTRY GRADUATE FELLOWSHIPS Because encouraging outstanding young scientists is vitally important to our nation's future, the American Meteorological Society, in continuing cooperation with nine major high-technology firms and a federal agency, announces its 1993/1994 AMS/Industry Graduate Fellowship Program. Participating organizations, all noted for civic consciousness as well as for the expertise and leadership that brought them to global prominence, have made it possible through their generous contributions to present fellowships to students who wish to pursue advanced degrees in the atmospheric and related oceanic and hydrologic sciences. Prospective candidates from the fields of atmospheric sciences, oceanography, hydrology, chemistry, computer sciences, engineering, environmental sciences, mathematics, and physics are encouraged to apply.
