The central theme of this conference is "Water Resources and Their Management: Focus on the Southern Hemisphere." This meeting is cosponsored by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the National Science Foundation (NSF), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the following institutions and organizations in Chile: National Commission on Science and Technology (CONICYT), University of Concepcion (UdeC), Chilean Bureau of Meteorology (DMC), National Oceanographic Com- mittee (CONA), Water Resources Authority (DGA-MOP), and Chilean Antarctic Institute (INACH).
