NOWCAST Lak e Clar k Pass is locate d in th e Aleutia n Range west of Coo k Inlet. This view is lookin g wes t towar d th e Lake Clar k Nationa l Preserve, a popula r touris t and hunting destinatio n tha t is accessible only by aircraft . Th e picture on th e left is a clea r day vie w and th e picture of stratus/fo g obscuring th e pass on th e right was take n at 4 P.M. LT on 23 August 2006. A pilot would use th e image on th e left t o determin e whethe r or not they would wan t to mak e the flight attempt . Ther e are no surface observations in or around the pass. Th e nearest observation points ar e on Mt . Augustine (59.37°N , I53.47°W), a volcanic island located at th e southern end of Coo k Inlet, and llliamna (59.74°N, 154.91 °W) , located on th e wester n side of th e Aleutia n Range.
