Responsible for junior/senior-level undergraduate physical ocean- ography and remote sensing for majors and share teaching of lower and/or upper division undergraduate courses for majors and non-majors. Develop a research program involving undergraduates. Required: Ph.D. in Oceanography or Ocean/Marine Science completed by the time of appointment. Ability and desire to teach junior/senior-level courses in physical oceanography, remote sensing and introductory courses in oceanography for both majors and non-majors. Ability and desire to mentor undergraduates and involve them in research. The successful candidate must also possess effective oral and written communication skills, and complete a successful interview that includes a presentation of their research as well as a teaching demonstration. Preferred: Ability to teach additional courses in the major that complement existing faculty expertise. Expertise in ocean environmental modeling, remote sensing, data assimilation and acquisition; knowledge of the use and main- tenance of standard physical oceanographic field instruments; familiarity with LINUX visualization and analysis software common to the discipline. Full consideration given to applications received by January 26, 2007.
