The complex environmental problems of today are increasingly requiring an interdisciplinary approach to improve our understanding of the total earth system. The atmosphere must b e wel l coupled wit h the land surface, as well as the ocean, with improved understanding of chemical/biogeochemica l and radiation influence s t o ensur e our predictive model s continue t o point u s in th e right direction. The second major them e is on e of outreach to the diverse membership of our Society.
