Frances C. Parmenter-Holt has been named to the new position of chief of the Atmospheric Research and Applications Division, Office of Research and Ap- plications, National Environmental Satellite, Data and Information Service of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Parmenter-Holt has been as- sociated with the development of satellite applications for more than 30 years. She collaborated in writing early articles introducing satellite imagery to the meteoro- logical community through the "Picture of the Month" series in Monthly Weather Review. Prior to her new appointment, Parmenter-Holt was chief of the Physical Science Branch and acting chief of the Satellite Applications Laboratory with the Office of Research and Applications. UCA R Elects Si x Ne w Members The University Corporation for At- mospheric Research has elected six universities to membership, bringing the total number of UCAR members to 37. New members are Purdue Uni- versity, the California Institute of ASSISTANT, Technology, the University of Ne- vada, Oregon State University, Utah State University, ASSOCIATE, and McGill University. McGill University, located in Montreal, Canada, is the second university to be SENIOR SCIENTISTS elected to international membership in UCAR.
