The September 1969 issue of the Bulletin included in-depth coverage of the first Symposium on Meteorological Observations and Instrumentation of the American Meteorological Society, held at the Washington Hilton Hotel in February 1969. Included among the photographs were the following two. Robert M.White, adminstrator, ESSA (right) discusses the progress of the sympo- sium with Sidney Teweles, symposium chairman. The theme of 199H's Third Aft\S Symposium on Education was "Preparing for the 2 1st Century," with presentations devoted to both university and K—1Z educational issues. Included are updates on Project fiTfAOS'PHE'R.E activities and other precollege educational endeavors, as well as a panel discussion on future directions for the undergraduate degree in the atmospheric and marine sciences. The evolving programs and emerging technologies indicate a very bright future for our disciplines as we move into the next century. ©199H American Meteorological Society. Softbound.
