1997/98 AMS/Industry Undergraduate Scholarship Recipients ^jj^ J jT^ ATT S The American Meteorological Society is pleased to announce the re- cipients of the 1997/98 AMS/Industry Undergraduate Scholarships. Seventeen leading environmental science and service corporations and one federal agency have joined with the AMS to offer eighteen un- dergraduate scholarships in the atmospheric and related oceanic and hydrologic sciences. The scholarships, awarded for the junior and senior years, are designed to encourage outstand- ing undergraduates to pursue careers in the fields covered by the awards. The scholarships are based on merit and are awarded to students who have shown the potential for accomplishment in these fields. The award is $2000 for a nine-month pe- riod in the junior year, and an additional $2000 for a nine-month period in the senior year based on performance in the first year.
