The American Meteorological Society is pleased to announce that five candidates have been selected to receive AMS/Industry Minority Scholarships. The AMS/Industry Minority Scholarship is intended to encourage minority students who have been traditionally underrepresented in the sciences, especially Hispanic, Native American, and Black/African American students, to pursue careers in the atmospheric and related oceanic and hydrologic sciences. Three scholarships have been funded through donations made by Society members to the AMS Programs in Support of Science and Education, and two scholarships are funded by industry, The Weather Channel and PRC Inc. The award is $3000 for a nine-month period in the freshman year and an additional $3000 for a nine-month period in the sophomore year, based on performance in the first year. Anthony J .
