From 3:00 to 3:30 P.M., light intensity decreased and stomatal opening started increasing. The tests were discontinued at 3:30 because of rain. The stomata of leaves under shade remained wide open throughout both days. These results are in agreement with those obtained by Nutman (6), and Franco (3), by means of porometers. A partial stomatal opening was noted at the beginning of both of the above tests, before the light intensity was measurable.
