The presence of a contiguous infection of the intestinal epithelium with a species of coccidium suggested the possibility of the identity of the two forms, but Dr. Smnith "is inclined to regard these epithelial cell parasites as belonging to a species distinct from that in the subepithelial ." The question is raised, however, regarding tissues. . . the frequency of a subepithelial invasion among coccidia, and Dr. Smith suggests the possibility that such invasion might precede the earliest symptoms of the disease and might easily be overlooked. For several years the present writer has been studying, when opportunity presented, the pathology of avian coccidiosis. The work is still in progress but since http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Journal of Bacteriology American Society For Microbiology
