To THE EDITOR: As a member of the American Public Health Association, I feel compelled to register my strong objection to an article in the May, 1970, issue of the American Journal of Public Health entitled "Fatal Phenol Poisoning from Improperly Laundered Diapers" by Byron W. Brown, R.S. It is my understanding that the Americani Journal of Public Health, as a reputable scientific journal, is charged with the responsibility of reporting originial research communications in the public health field. Mr. Brown's paper is nothing more than an abridged version of an unauthored news article based on news releases and interviews with the investigators involved, that appeared in the January, 1968, issue of Hospital Practice. Mr. Brown's article is so severely abridged that it does not even present the full story of the incident. I find it objectionable that the article does not credit any of the original investigators of this outbreak.
