Letters to the Editor quired from two to six v-isits a day either to the patient by the physician or vice -versa. In excuise of this misstatement it may h)e said that this issule of the BdlUctiii was got out hastily on the eve of the Gubernatorial election in New York State anid sent to the 1.3,000 physicians of New York to advocate the electioni of Judge Miller "not as a political matter but as a matter of professional concerln to every physician in the State." This stand was takeni as a protest to Go.v. Smith's persistenit advocacy of Compulsory Health Insuranice and(l oni accounit of the inhumain, illegal and unscientinHe act of Compulsory Registrationi of Drug Addicts by hiis Narcotic Drug Comnmission in the City of New York. In only three cases was the justice of this action questionied by the physicians addressed. One of the objections to th:s course was made by a Deputy Conmn-issiomer of Narcotic Drug Control, another was maade by a private practitionier and the third by Dr. Wendell C. Plhillips in your columins. Judge Collins seniteniced the first anid olnly physician convicted of a technical violatioin of the drug laws of the State of NTew York in correction with the keeping of his records. This was about three years ago and although this sentence was suspended the change in the attitulde of the local judicial auithorities can be juidged by the position taken today by Judge Collinis in regard to the rights of the physicians in prescribing for addicts at the hearinig before Governior MIiller. Everywhere else in the State of New York a similar chanige has takeln place except in the Couincils of the M\edical Society of the County of New York. The samc form of miedical educational missionary work -,vhzch has beeni so sluccessful elsew,here still remains to be done in this the last remaininig place to resist its inifluen ce. Exec. Sec'v, N.
