Irreversible Thermodynamics of Nonlinear Processes and Noise in Driven Systems

Irreversible Thermodynamics of Nonlinear Processes and Noise in Driven Systems crystals, no such splitting could be detected. If present, the splitting must not be greater than 5 cm-' in the trichlorobenzene and hexachlorobenzene and 3 cm-' in the durene crystal. In the case of the hexachlorobenzene crystal, the energy of separation between the two K=0 levels in the exciton band has been calcu- lated to be 0.7 cm-'. Thus it appears that at least one of the low-lying excited elec- tronic states of the pyrene crystal has the nature of exciton states, though in the case of the 1,3,5-trichlorobenzene, hexachloroben- zene, and durene crystals any such conclusion would be too hasty in view of the paucity of experimental data.
