Abstract This volume presents the proceedings of the Vitreoretinal Congress held in Boston in June 1975. Among its list of 84 contributors are some of the most eminent experts in the field of vitreoretinal disease. The first of the two major divisions of the text begins with a complete and comprehensive review on the biochemistry, histology, and examination techniques of the normal and diseased vitreous. Sections of particular interest are the one on surface wrinkling retinopathy and the one on the structure of human vitreous membranes. The remaining and major portion of the section deals with instrumentation, surgical techniques, and complications of vitrectomy. A complete and concise description of vitrectomy instruments concludes with a chapter summarizing their similarities and differences. Contributions in the field of surgical techniques deal with such topics as membrane sectioning, complicated retinal detachments, perforating ocular injuries, and intraocular foreign bodies. There is a brief but adequate discussion http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Archives of Ophthalmology American Medical Association
