Vascular Pathology This 6-lb volume, written by 25 distinguished contributors (mostly pathologists) from three continents plus Japan and New Zealand, is beautifully printed, abundantly referenced from 1628 to 1993, and fully illustrated. Many excellent gross, microscopic, and ultrastructural figures, x-rays, computed tomographic scans, angiograms, and diagrams of pathophysiology are included. Vascular pathology is considered in the broad sense, not simply as morbid anatomy, but with epidemiology, genetic and metabolic abnormalities, etiology, pathogenesis, biochemistry, histochemistry, and immunochemistry with 14 color plates, clinical correlations, prognosis, and therapy. The senior editor contributed six chapters on circulatory adaptation, arteriovenous communications, thrombosis, atherosclerosis, aneurysms, and cerebrovascular disease. The last three are particularly appealing to vascular surgeons, neurosurgeons, and neuropathologists. Mainly, they are detailed, scholarly, classic, descriptive macroscopic and microscopic morphologic pathology. Together with chapters on other aspects, atherosclerosis and its complications make up about one third of the text.
