Abstract The numerous works of these last years about the surgical therapy of chronic frontal sinusitis show the importance and the present interest of this subject. The use of antibiotics has certainly reduced the number of cases of chronic frontal sinusitis requiring surgical therapy. But still today, in many cases, the surgical operation is the only way to heal this affection. Therefore the study of the esthetic and clinical problems connected with a surgical therapy of chronic frontal sinusitis is a subject of great interest. It is easy to value the esthetic angle of the problem. The clinical problems, on the contrary, are intimately connected with the embryogenetic development of the frontal sinus. It derives from anatomical formations opening into the middle meatus. The uncinate passage between the frontal sinus and the nasal fossae passes through these anatomical formations.
