Abstract This book, consisting of some 700 pages and divided into six sections, is written by an author with extensive experience in a public health program for handicapped children and in the field of maternal and child health. It is intended as a single source of information for all workers caring for children. Section I dealing with Trends in the Savings of Lives of Mothers and Infants and with care of the mother is in very brief and general terms and does not seem to have been given the importance it deserves in a volume of this magnitude. In Section II growth and development and daily care of children is discussed in such a way as to be of distinct value for nonmedical personnel. The chapter on the newborn and the premature infant, though too brief, is one of the better chapters of the entire book. Section III is the most http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png A.M.A. Journal of Diseases of Children American Medical Association
