The American Health Care System and the 1992 Election

The American Health Care System and the 1992 Election As every American reader knows, the United States is about to exercise its quadrennial opportunity to elect a President and Vice President for the next 4 years, the entire House of Representatives (435 positions) for the next 2 years, and 34 of 100 Senators for the next 6 years. No US election in my memory has seemed to be more important to the medical and health care community (and to all of us as patients) than this one on November 3,1992. It is distressing that health care has become so politicized, but it is immensely gratifying to note that the importance of health as an issue at this time has become recognized by nearly all. Health care in the US can be wonderful, but our health care system is in dire need of change. There is abundant scientific evidence to support both of these statements.
