Surgical Torsion of the Globe as Treatment for Retinal Detachment

Surgical Torsion of the Globe as Treatment for Retinal Detachment Abstract A patient with a retinal detachment resulting from a giant retinal tear was treated wih scleral buckling and intorsion of the globe 90° to place the tear in a dependent position. The retina was successfully reattached, but intolerable diplopia resulted. Comfortable binocular vision was reestablished only after the performance of appropriate oblique muscle surgery.
