Stem Cell Lines Cleared
Abstract
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has approved 13 new stem cell lines for use in agency-funded research. The move follows a March 2009 order by President Obama that expanded the NIH's ability to fund stem cell research. Previously, an order by President Bush in 2001 had limited federal funding of stem cell research to studies of 60 existing lines of cells.
