Abstract This report of progress is compiled from a review of 171 papers selected from 263 titles relating to orthopedic surgery and appearing in medical literature approximately between March 1, 1936, and July 1, 1936. Only those which seemed to represent progress were chosen for review. CONGENITAL DEFORMITIES Treatment of Congenital Elevation of the Scapula. —Seaphetti1 reports 4 cases of congenital elevation of the scapula in patients aged 4½, 6, 13 and 13 years, respectively. An operation for the correction of this deformity was performed by Putti, whose technic is as follows: A curved incision is made from above the superior angle of the scapula downward convexly toward the spine to below the inferior angle of the scapula. After the fascia and the subcutaneous tissues are divided, the mesial and inferior portions of the trapezius muscle are cut from the scapula and, with the superior portion of the latissimus dorsi References 1.
