Radiology Quiz Case 1 A 30-year-old man was referred to our clinic with a 3-month history of swelling in the midline of the neck. The size of the swelling was stable and did not change at meal times. The patient's clinical history suggested that he was mostly fit and healthy, without any previous medical problems or head and neck trauma. Clinical examination revealed that there was an ill-defined, soft, nontender swelling over the submental region. None of the cervical lymph nodes were palpable. View LargeDownload A Sistrunk operation was performed after informed consent was obtained from the patient. The cyst had 2 components and was located posterosuperiorly to the hyoid bone. The smaller superficial component was in contact with the posterior surface of the hyoid body and communicated with the deeper component via a track between the 2 bundles of genioglossus muscle. The cyst contained clear, yellowish mucus without an obvious capsule. The lesion was excised together with a part of the hyoid bone and surrounding muscular tissue.
