Quinidine Photosensitivity Abstract To the Editor.— Three cases of photosensitivity due to quinidine wereResults of Light Testing Clinical Setting Photodermatitis Reaction to UVA Minimal Erythema Dose— Hot Quartz At initial diagnosis Present Not tested Not tested Off quinidine Cleared No reaction, 30 min 4 min Challenge orally administered quinidine, 2 days Pruritus recurring Erythema, 45 min 30 sec Off quinidine, 2 days Cleared No reaction, 60 min 30 sec recently described by Pariser and Taylor,1 and one case was reported by Gammer and Gross.2 We have subsequently observed an additional such case, the first noted in a black.A previously healthy 72-year-old black man began receiving quinidine gluconate, 324 mg by mouth every 12 hours, in July 1973 because of "drop attacks" and premature ventricular contractions.
