PRIORITY IN TREATMENT OF BROMIDE INTOXICATION To the Editor: —In The Journal, October 25, Weidman under this title gives credit to Wile and his co-workers for being the pioneers in the application of the biologic fact that the administration of chlorides hastens the elimination of bromides. Permit me to draw your attention to the fact that prior to or at least simultaneously with Wile, I recommended the salt treatment for bromism. At the annual meeting of the American Dermatological Association in Washington in 1922 I stated (Arch. Dermat. & Syph. 6:559 [Nov.] 1922) in a discussion of a paper on drug eruptions: "The facts mentioned by Dr. Wile, that chlorides replace the bromides in the body, has induced me for many years to give patients with bromide eruption either a diet rich in salt or to administer calcium chloride by mouth."
