Abstract This new textbook of surgery stresses a physiologic approach, both normal and abnormal, to diseases requiring surgical intervention. A logical basis for the therapeutic maneuvers discussed is thereby produced. Students of medicine at all levels and all specialties would benefit from reading part 1 (pp 3-359) which deals with the body's response to various injuries. The authors are all acknowledged experts in their fields, and the editors are to be congratulated for the excellent quality of the entire work. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Archives of Neurology American Medical Association
