Penicillin Allergy: Clinical and Immunologic Aspects This article is only available in the PDF format. Download the PDF to view the article, as well as its associated figures and tables. Abstract In the last ten years the knowledge of penicillin allergy has burgeoned. The 15 contributors to this book have written on selected aspects of this knowledge and the result is a potpourri of articles of wide variety. The 11 chapters range from practical advice to the physician faced with a penicillin-allergic patient to the technical immunochemistry of penicillin allergy that would interest mainly those persons sophisticated in immunochemistry. Additional subjects discussed include penicillin skin testing, serologic tests in penicillin allergy, macromolecular and protein contaminants in penicillin allergy, clinical manifestation of penicillin allergy, and cross allergenicity of penicillin G and the semisynthetic penicillins. Some of the chapters are in the nature of brief reviews, others contain details of methods with results of published and unpublished scientific studies. The book gives great emphasis to macromolecular and protein contaminants with mention or discussion of this aspect of penicillin allergy in chapters 1, 2, http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Archives of Dermatology American Medical Association
