Abstract On opening this book, one feels that he or she has stumbled onto a family album, as the end pages of the text include casual photographs of Professor Ferdinando Gianotti. Further scanning identifies the elegance of the cover, color photography of patients, and the reproductions of the histopathologic sections. This is the first of four volumes. Single volumes are $150 each. I was informed by the publisher that one can buy all four volumes for $495. The first volume includes descriptions of 30 conditions arranged alphabetically from acanthosis nigricans to cutis marmorata telangiectatica congenita. It is assumed that the rest of the volumes will continue to maintain alphabetical order in the discussion of conditions. Each chapter includes a brief description of clinical findings, information on the age of onset, associations, differential diagnosis, etiology, pathogenesis, management, course, and prognosis.
